How to Stay on Track (When You're Not Seeing Results Yet)

This is part 3 of the 4-part goal-setting series.

I remember making the exact same New Year's Resolutions year after year...

Every year, I'd be telling myself "this would be my year. I'll reach my goal weight"

That was what I was telling myself every January for over a decade...

Then every December, I was feeling more frustrated than ever.

Before you ditch your plan or reinvent the wheel, check the following:

1.Are you really sure you aren’t getting results? (hint: the scale is not the only indicator)

2. Are your expectations realistic? Give your plan time. No one puts on all the weight they wish to lose overnight, so don't expect to lose it all overnight either. This is not lipo or photoshop.

3. Are you being 100% honest with yourself? Are you sneaking in a bite here and there? Are you actually sticking to your plan? What are your portion sizes like? Or are you filling up on "free foods" (foods that have calories but on some diets, they are not accounted for) or other "healthy foods"


  • Keep a detailed food diary (not a calorie tracker!) to see your own patterns and habits.

  • Focus on 1 small step at a time
