A simple tip to stop nighttime eating

Let's talk about ONE HUGE STRUGGLE that a lot of people struggle with when it comes to weight loss - NIGHT TIME SNACKING!

And I wanted to share something that happened with my client Christine - because I know you can probably relate...

Obviously, when we tend to fall off track in the evening, it's not because we crave celery sticks, carrots or apples ...

More often than not, it's because the leftover cake in the fridge, or those brownies on the kitchen counter, or the chocolate bars are screaming our names and we cannot resist...

Before coming to me, during the day, Christine was crushing her goals - exercising, drinking more water, eating healthy meals, getting lots of fresh air and de-stressing time, and she was feeling GREAT.

In fact, she even made a point to prioritize making habit change rather than obsessing over her weight and her food intake.

But there was one area that was tripping her up...One area where she was struggling...

Can you guess where that was?

If you guessed late-night snacking, then you are right!

You see, despite eating healthy all day long, every evening she would be bombarded with massive cravings for those ultra-processed-uber-delicious-foods (even if she wasn't hungry) ... and every night she gave in.

She'd been a nighttime eater for YEARS and over the last few years, this habit became more and more pronounced...and she was having more health issues...

She REALLY wanted to cut back but had no idea where to start.

She obviously lost the willpower battle every day.

So, we did some brainstorming on solutions that would work for her life and family, and we came up with an idea that might work for you.

She changed up her evening routine to help her break the mindless snacking cycle ... and she did it in a way that short-circuited the habit that she wanted to get rid of.

For her, that meant spending quality time with her kids, bathing and then going to bed early - and staying away from the sofa and TV (her major "danger zone", which is where the overeating marathon always kicked off.)

This change of routine removes the automatic cue (TV + couch) to grab those foods (especially when she's just bored and the overeating is just habitual) and spending time with her family still allows her to put family time first.

It worked like a charm!

The first couple of nights, she thought of snacking, but then she got busy with her kids and forgot about it.

💡In order to break a habit loop, you have to replace the old undesirable habit with another that gives you similar satisfaction and fulfills similar purposes.
